AMCS Oztotl Logo

The glyph used in the logo of the Association for Mexican Cave Studies is the Aztec glyph for oztotl, cave. The version used is courtesy of Gill Ediger. For more information on the origin and meaning of the oztotl, as well as the significance of the underworld to the native people of Mexico, click here for the Oztotl Information Page.

AMCS members are welcome to use the logo on cave maps or other places consistent with the goals of the AMCS. The links below will produce HTML files containing bit-map versions of the logo approximately 550 pixels wide, which you should be able to extract from a saved version of the page. Other formats are available, including PICT, Windows Metafile, and TIFF up to 1500 pixels wide. If you have use for one of these higher-resolution forms, contact editor@mexicancaves.org.
